Endless Memory Capacity – Car Multimedia Systems using SSD

Multimedia systems for cars containing navigation functionalities are moreless standard in the automotive industry. Entertainment and information as well as the playing of the own data – these are the requirements placed on the automobile radio of the 21th century. To satisfy the request of a high data volume of these information systems, solid state discs are the ideal solution. Our copy system X⁵ is used to record data to SSDs. Therefore it is place directly in the production lines.

SSD-CopyingModule.jpgWhen searching for a copy system for solid state discs (SSD), the automobile concern had detailed requirements: Such a system must be directly integrated in the production lines, the volume of production can reach up to 4,000 SSD a day, the recorded data must be verified in a second step and a central logging functionality is necessary.

When using the copy system X⁵, the customer easily reaches the necessary capacity as the recording takes place asynchronously. Additionally, X⁵ is modularly constructed. This means that the system can be upgraded to up to 8 modules anytime. Each module is equipped with 10 copying slots. For the beginning, the customer uses two modules to reach the capacity.

X⁵ is unique as it uses an asynchronous process for recording. This allows parallel recording activities as well as the recording of differing content and varying  file-sizes at the same time. Furthermore, the queue time is reduced to a minimum. When an SSD is finished, another blank medium can immediately be put into the free slot and a new copying process is started. SSD that are recorded at the same time are not affected.

 

Perfectly fitting into production lines

According to the requirements of the customer, the copying system X⁵ is integrated in the production line. Furthermore, it is adapted to the workflows of the production. When an SSD is put into a free slot, it is checked. Parameter like e.g. the serial number or the manufacturer of the SSD are read-out and written into a database.

After checking the SSD, the data is recorded and verified. The produced testing certificates are saved in the database as well.

X⁵ is supporting customized workflows and processes. It is the only system available that can record up to 80 SSD, USB, CF etc. at the same time with a recording speed of 140 MByte a second.
